This depends on the certification authority and the selected validation level.
In the case of domain-validated certificates, only the confirmation of the verification e-mail of the certification must be sent to the e-mail address of the applicant after the order has been successfully placed.
In the case of person- or organization-validated certificates, the necessary validation steps must first be carried out:
In the case of person-validated certificates, the front of the identity card is checked (according to legal standards).
In the case of organization-validated certificates, the company’s data is also checked on the basis of the trade register excerpt or the trade licence.
The certificate order must also be confirmed by a verification call with the person making the request (except for SwissSign and Certum). The telephone number for this is taken from a public directory.
