Common browsers such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome show you a small security lock at the top of the browser address bar in front of the URL.

As an additional indication for a secure SSL/TLS certificate you can see „https“ typed in the address bar. The „s“ after the http indicates „secure“.

If SSL encryption is disabled for any reason, you will see a red X instead of the security lock on Google Chrome.
