To answer the question which S/MIME certificate you need for a standard e-mail address, we must first define it:
What are standard e-mail addresses? These are for example info-, support- or helpdesk-addresses.
These standard e-mail addresses can always be secured with a Class1 (e-mail-validated) certificate.
However, if you prefer an organization-validated S/MIME certificate for your standard e-mail address, a department certificate (e.g. GlobalSign Department) is recommended. This S/MIME certificate is not issued to one person but to a department (several people send e-mails via a common department e-mail address, e.g. firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com).
